Christmas/Hanukkah - December YTLH©

Hey all
Hope everyone is well and had a great time over the holidays. If you go over to You tube you can follow along with the YouTube Layout Hop. Theme for this month is "Christmas/Hanukkah".

Due to to holidays there are not as many people free to participate in the hop this month so I decided to make two layouts as they were both super simple and Christmas related I thought I'd put them both together in this video.

Here is the first page I have made this was inspiration from ShimelleLaine - Glitter Girl Adventure 051: Getting Glittery
Sam xxx

The background paper is from a Flower Fairies calendar which I got free with Cardmaking and Papercraft. I didn't end up using the blue polka dot paper as there was too many dots.

The second layout is of Darcy's school Nativity play

I went back and stamped "the Nursery" as the title looked weird.

My First attempt at making clothes

Since pinching my mams sewing machine about 3 weeks ago I had not used it but had wanted to attempt to make my nieces or the girls some little dresses.

I was sorting out some of my clothes which didn't fit me or  I didn't want anymore but could not part with them as I loved the fabric so I have a pile of clothes to cut up and reuse.

So this is what I made with the back of a top and the bottom of a vest top.

Its a dress for a 1 ish year old lol!

As this is my first attempt at any sort of clothes making I was pretty chuffed and Adam said it was good - praise indeed if he likes it. Wants to get me making clothes for him lol I said come on this is my first attempt and I don't think I'd ever get that good to make him clothes.

I am going to attempt a bigger one with the left over fabric. Its not costing me anything as I am recycling old clothes so practice makes perfect.

Any hints or tips anyone?? I need help lol

Thanks so much to taking the time to view and comment its much appreciated

1 Photo 2 Different Layouts

I had to scrap the same photos for both Darcy and Gypsy but since they are sisters I didn't want to to the same page for both.

So I used the same photo but made two different pages.

First Page

I used the back of another layout for the base of the page as I didn't want to waste it. The paper is from K&Co Urban Stack.
The teal polka dot is an envelope I got a birthday card in I loved it so kept it. All pink paper is scraps and I used a flower die in my Cuttlebug to make the flowers. Text is orange rub on and white peal off stickers.

Second Page

I used Kraft card stock for the base. Pattern paper in this layout came free with the Papercraft Inspirations magazine in Jan 2009 lol old yes I know! My nans friend send lots of old magazines around for me. But I found the link online where you can download and print them yourself. Font was a digital one which I printed and cut out.

Free papers

There are lots and lots of freebies on this site so have a look :-)

I even got the sewing machine out and sewed hearts and some of the papers down. This is the first time I have sewed on paper and was pretty easy.

Sam's Scrapbook Process : 9 Months

Hi All

Hope everyone is well.

Inspiration for this layout came from Stretching Sketches with Donna Jannuzzi. It wasnt actually Donna's sketch which totally inspired me. It was the page Diana Chen made using the sketch as I saw this first. But for me I can scraplift pages better than following blanc sketches I like to see the paper people use and colour combos to get my inspiration going - if you know what I mean!

The process video below I really need to get the mic sorted I appologise in advance its not very good quality and I think I keep putting mic to close to my mouth, Sorry xx

Sam's Scrapbook Process : Infants School

Hi All

Hope everyone is well.

2 days in a row in my craft room and I defo have my mojo back which I am happy about!!

I have had the school photos for Darcy for ages and wanted to make her a page today. This is a hybrid page today some digital papers and some normal.
I am totally loving the A4 size layouts at the minute I am finding them so much easier than 8x8 or 12x12.

What I used:
  • Yellow paper is a textured paper which I got a pack from Paper Mill shop for £1
  • Dark Red is from a plain paper pad I got from Lidel for a £1 and it has lots of different colours.
  • Apple paper is digi free download from MissTina
  • Pattern Red, Yellow and Green, "A is for" and apple is free download from Peppermintcreative
  • Black chalk board paper I am not sure was scrap in my tub but it looks like a printable so I will try and find link for that one for you.
  • Hopscotch sticker is from October Afternoon Hometown collection I only got sticker sheet.
  • Learning ABC sticker is from Kindergarten School - Karen Foster Designs.
  • Green polka dot chip frame is from DoveCraft
  • Colorbök Classic Black Sticky Alpha Stax
  • American Crafts Remarks Chickadee alpha stickers.
The page took me a while to put together which you will see if you watch my video below!
It just would not come together for me I was trying to stack the papers and it just didnt want to work!
I am happy with finished page but it doesnt look how I invisioned it!

** I must appologise in advance also I think I have the mic too close to my mouth sorry xxx

Sam's Scrapbook Process : Autumn is always early!

Hi All

Hope everyone is well.
For those who didnt know I was made redundant from work last Tuesday and the week has its flew over but I havent done anything! I have been catching up on alot of lie in's which I have missed :-)

I thought I would venture back into my craft for the first time in about a week or 2. I didnt want to sicken myself before I left work as I will be on gardening leave until 19th Nov before my redundancy money comes through and then I can get a new job.

I'd like to say woo big pay day as I have been there for quite a few years but I am going to have to be sensible incase I dont get a new job straight away.

Anyways .... shut up Sam ... on to my layout!

Layout is a scraplift from Scrapbooketc which was a paper piece Tree Background - Design by Cindy Tobey

Paper is by My Minds Eye - Magnolia

I put some more paper pieced images from the Canon website:

I also used a stamp from HamptonArt - Seasonal Beauty.

The letters cut for word Autumn were digital but cannot remember where from, sorry. Hate how it turned out when i outlined letters with marker. But once I started had to finish it - boo hoo!

The "is always early!" Was just typed in word.

Sam's Scrapbook Process : Très Chic

Hi All

Hope everyone is well.

Took the photos on this layout of my niece Amelia at the begging of September. She had a gorgeous little pink & black dress on which had very french boutique print and she is quite the little poser so I had to whip the camera out.

This is a double 8 x 8 layout

The pink text paper is by Pink Petticoat it was a boutique collection I have had for years so not sure if they still do it as I couldn't not find it on the site to get the name.

The Black and White papers and pink border I made myself.

They are all printed on photo paper as my printer is acting up and printing on photo paper is the only way I get true colours when printing - not sure why!

The lace flowers I bought from CratyLoops on Ebay and love them!!

I got the Eiffel Tower die cut from my friend Sandra Jordan from Facebook it was pink one one side and purple on the other. I covered the purple in black ink but it was far too much black on the page and wanted to pick the light pink from her dress so used the backside.

I totally love this layout.

Christmas Cards

Wanted to share some more Christmas Cards

I am so addicted to Lily of The Vally images.

I was getting a bit sick of the white background on the images so I coloured this in blue I had to do it a few times as colouring with Copic Markers it kept leaving streaks. If anyone know how do coloured background shading or knows of any YouTube tutorials please send me the link as I am rubbish at shading :-(

I dangled a gold bell on a bow in the flowers for something a little different.
These are the other poinsettia's I made.
I had some confetti gold stars which I stuck on some white craft wire so they are like little star stick pins.

Hope everyone is well

Love Sam x
