"KennyK Digital Downloads" August 2015 YTLH©

Hey all

If you go over to You tube you can follow along with the YouTube Layout Hop.

Inspiration came from page Inkie Quill made:

Here is the page I have made:

For my layout I used the Retro Selfie  digital image which I feel in love with as soon as I saw as I am addicted to taking selfies and retro pin-ups! I will let you into a little secret I tried to do my hair like this and was going to try and take some retro selfies myself but I will just say I hate my hair as it never co-operates! So these are some daft selfies I took while board at work on my own!

I used the photobooth app on bighugelabs.com for my photo booth strips. The Polaroid images were just off google.

I also made some cards with some of the other digital images.

Retro Selfie

Breast Cancer Fighter

I used this image for a friend at work who was big in going to the gym and she was leaving to start a new job.

I was going for a comic real on these cards and I added the text boxes myself on paint. I absolutely love these ones and they make awesome male birthday cards! I think I may have to purchase the others in same collection.

Theme for this month is using digital images from one of our sponsors KennyKdownloads

Mixed Media Art : War Nurse

Was doing some research for my family tree tonight and was filling in some blanks for my Great Aunt Mary who is 91 and an amazing woman!

We had a family reunion July gone and she was awarded an Life Time Achievement Award for being the founder and her involvement in School Nurses International  (History of this amazing Organization is in the link if your interested).

At the reunion we got to talking about Mary's brother David who passed a few years ago who was an artist as are alot of the Wright family members - clearly plaint runs in our blood :-)

David did alot of mixed media painting and used family photos in some of his artwork so I had the urge to try some out tonight.

I really don't know how but my inspiration came from this image I saw on google. Looks nothing light it but the rays in background got me thinking spotlights and the thinking bubble I dont know how but made me think of the Barrage balloons.

WW2 inspired mixed media. St.Paul's Cathedral surviving the blitz, spotlights lighting sky looking for planes and my Great Aunt Mary in her nurse uniform during this time.

I am not very good at painting but like to practice. Hopefully Aunt Mary will not mind me using her photo in this.

Keepsake : Paw Print Frames #pawgustart‬

Project for today is a keepsake to go on the wall. It got rather messy and was a stressful day trying to do this!

Inspiration/Scraplift from Edyta Diseño which I saw on a Doggie DIY Projects post:

My frames turned out a little differently as I wanted a picture of my boys with their paw print. As you can tell the paw print looks nothing like the above one. We tried with paint and it just made a splodgie unrecognizable blob! We did have footage but I accidentally deleted it. Lets just say myself and the dogs got a little messy and stressed.

So I cleaned their paws of the paint and also now have 2 black marks on my carpet from where Barney got away from me before I could wash his paw!
I went and had a cup of tea and looked around my desk at what else I could use as I have been thinking of making this project for a few weeks now and had already painted the frames and mounted the photos so was pretty deflated!

I googled to check if ink pads were toxic to dogs and it said as long as water-based and non-toxic and paws cleaned thoroughly after it was ok.

As you can see the paw prints are very different and they look very different even through they are the same breed of dog (Beagles). I am glad I persisted with this project as I love how they turned out.

I used letter stickers for the names instead of writing it as I could not get it as fancy as original.

I am going to make a big photo gallery up the stairs with different pictures/frames after we have decorated.

Remember search google, twitter and Youtube for #pawgustart and all content from Aug 20th through to 22nd will come up from everyone involved in the virtual animal art festival.

Sam's Scrapbook Process : Hoochie #pawgustart‬

I will be joining in the Creative Arts Collaboration again this month and the hashtag is #pawgustart‬ so anyone who loves animals and art is going to need to tune in for this months virtual art festival!

As most of you know I am a mother of 4 fur babies so this is definitely up my street!

So my first project is a scrapbook process video which unfortunately got cut short I was trying out a new camera and it ran out of memory before I realized I finished my page! I am not sure on the camera angle either so let me know what you think!?

Inspiration/Scraplift from Nina Ostermann:

So this was my cat Hooch who had to sadly be put to sleep Nov 2014 and I still get up sad looking at his pictures as he was my favorite and I think he thought I was his mother! My mams friend found him in 1996 an extremely small and frighted kitten in a back alley. As my family had a few cats she brought him to us and he never left my side for 18 years.

I realized I had never scrapped a picture of him! I came across this photo from a few years back of him sitting with his tongue out. It was cute as when he would groom himself his tongue sometimes would get dry and not go back into his mouth so I would have to push it back in for him!

He was called "Hooch" and not after Turner and Hooch as most of you will think! If your from the UK there is an alcoholic drink called Hooch. No I am not a recovering Alcoholic all our cats have always been named after drinks - Pepsi, Cola, Whiskey, Hooch, Becks, Brandy and Coke.

I used to call him "Hoochie Poochie" (I know he is not a dog but it rhymed, ok?)

Used:
Paper - 4heures37 - 6 Impasse Des Chenes

Grace Taylor Modern Cabin Stickers
American Crafts Remarks - Chickadee
Cat Die cuts (free with magazine ages ago)
Paper Doily
Webster Pages Alison Kraft Photo Corners

OMG I am waffling on tonight! Stay tuned for tomorrow's project which involves the dogs!
