I ...Congratulations on your new writing adventure. I think that you should do whatever makes you happy. I mean, that's what having a hobby is all about, right? So if reading and writing make you happy, then that's how you should spend your free time. (Of course, I still hope you'll post the occasional layout or project!) Every November there is National Novel Writing Month. You could check their online resources--I think they are available all year, not just in November. I tried participating in NaNoWriMo once. I only got 1/3 of the way through writing my manuscript, but that's probably the most writing I've ever done, so I was still pleased.
